Under the Beetle's Hood
The standard engine in the 1.8 models, including the #PinkBeetle, is a turbocharged 1.8-liter four-cylinder engine. It is rated at 184 pound-feet of torque and 170 horsepower. A six-speed automatic transmission is included on the 1.8-liter engine. The fuel economy is 24 mpg in the city and 33 mpg on the highway for the 1.8T and 24 mpg in the city and 21 mpg on the highway for the Dune. The EPA estimated fuel economy rating is 24 mpg city and 33 mpg highway for the 1.8T and 24 mpg city and 31 mpg highway for the Dune. The top of the line trim, 2.0T, gets a turbocharged 2.0-liter engine that produces 207 pound-feet of torque and 210 horsepower. The 2.0T is paired with a quicker-shifting six-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. The Beetle is a two-door hatchback that is available in seven trim levels: 1.8T S, 1.8T Classic, 1.8 SE, #PinkBeetle, 1.8T Dune, 1.8 SEL, and 2.0T R-Line SEL.
